PRESENTATION OF THE DIRECTORATE FOR EUROPEAN INTEGRATION AND PROJECT MANAGEMENT AND RECEPTION OF DUTIES

Directorate for Project Management on 23rd April became subordinated to the Defence Policy Sector and was renamed the Directorate for European Integration and Project Management. Accordingly, on 15th June, a ceremony of transfer of responsibilities of a Director of the Directorate alongside with a presentation of the Directorate took place in the conference room of the Budget and Finanse Sector.

The presentation was attended by Mr. Zoran Djordjevic, State Secretary at the Ministry of Defence, Major-general Sladjan Djordjevic, the acting representative of the Assistant Minister for Defence Policy, Colonel Katarina Strbac, Director of the Directorate, as well as employess of the Directorate.

After the opening speeches of State Zoran Djordjevic, Major-general Sladjan Djordjevic and Colonel Katarina Strbac, PhD, a presentation on the legal framework, organizational structure, objectives, results achieved in the period from 2012 to 2015 and the planned tasks of the Directorate was held by Mrs. Zorica Vukovic, officer for European Integration.

A special emphasis was made on the ongoing projects of importance for the defence system. Four project proposals were  presented to State Secretary Zoran Djordjevic and Major-general Sladjan Djordjevic: ''Improving the technological support of electronic document management in the MoD and SAF '', Production of vulnerability and risk maps (purchase LIDAR cameras)'', ''Destruction of medical waste from warehouses of MoD and SAF'' and ''Development of the capacity of civil society structures in Serbia for participation in multinational operations - civilian expertise in multinational operations''.

State Secretary Zoran Djordjevic at the end of the meeting wished a successful work of the Directorate in the future.

    Officials of the Ministry of Defence and the Serbian Armed Forces, led by colonel Dr. Katarina Strbac, director of the Directorate of European Integration and Project Management of the Defence Policy Sector, attended the two-day seminar on civilian capacities in multilateral missions, which is a part of the project “Development of National Capacities of Serbia for Participation of Civilians in Peace- Support Missions”.

    Director of the Directorate of European Integration and Project Management, Colonel Dr. Katarina Strbac, as part of a five-member working group of the Ministry of Defence and the Serbian Armed Forces, attended the advanced research workshop “Implications of Climate Change and Disasters on Military activities – Building Resiliency and Mitigating Vulnerability in the Balkan Region”. The workshop was held in the period from 4 to 8 July 2016 in the Republic of Bulgaria and supported by the NATO Science for Peace and Security Program.

    In organization of the Directorate for European Integration and Project Management, Mr. Kurt Refsgard, a representative of the Ministry of Defence of the Kingdom of Denmark, visited the Ministry of Defence and the Serbian Armed Forces in the period from 28 to 30 June 2016, with a view to continue project cooperation of two national defence sectors.
